What we do
Advocacy and Awareness
- Every week, we broadcast ‘Disability Voice’ a radio program that specifically deals with disability issues. Broadcast through Radio Nepal, it reaches 3 million people throughout the country who might not otherwise hear anything about disability.
- Every month we publish and distribute 4,000 copies of 'Disability Voice', a self-financing journal that brings all the latest news and views on disability.
- We work hard to influence and inform people through Media Campaigns that drive home the fact that disabled people have rights too.
- We give disabled people a voice at Government, District and local level by advocating for their rights.
- We run workshops and interaction programs to keep disabled people informed of the issues
Trainings
- We run training and development programs on human rights, law, leadership and advocacy skills for Disabled People’s Organisations and disabled people
- We train journalists, leaders of communities and representatives from the Government and non-governmental organisations on how to ensure that disabled people are included in the development process of Nepal.
Study/Research/Environmental scanning
- We monitor the latest developments in the field of disability
- We conduct studies and research to understand the reality of life in Nepal for disabled people
- We maintain an information centre on disability issues
Legal Support Service
- We provide legal advice to disabled people who are fighting discrimination
- We take cases to the Supreme Court to get the law applied or even changed the media in disseminating information in Nepal.
