About Us
After many unsuccessful years
of trying to motivate other human rights organisations to include the
rights of disabled people in their programs, Nepal Disabled Human
Rights Centre (DHRC- Nepal) was established in January 2000 by a group
of young disabled men. The team now consists of eight members - three
female and five male. Of these, six are disabled and two are non
disabled. DHRC-Nepal was established to improve the self image of
people with disabilities (PWDs) in the community and empower them to
join the mainstream of their society. It recognises the importance of
interaction and amongst others interacts with guardians of PWDs, policy
makers, journalists and social workers. t adheres to the UN Human
Rights Declaration, the UN Standard Rules, its agencies' policiesy as
well as regulations concerning PWDs in Nepal.
